curators

Hibrow's Curators
are exceptional individuals and cultural organisations invited from around the globe and across the arts. Each curator chooses their own projects to share with Hibrow's audience and works with Hibrow's production teams to produce them and distribute.

Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra

Liverpool Philharmonic is one of the UK’s most forward-looking music organisations.

As well as the world class Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, their programme of classical music activity includes the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir, the Rodewald Concert Series of chamber music and their contemporary group - Ensemble 10/10.

The RLPO's extremely active Learning department has been working with schools and the community through its orchestral programme since the 1940. They offer a range of inspirational opportunities to get involved in live music-making of the highest quality for thousands of people every year, and learning events for all ages from 3 years to adults.

Uniquely, the organisation also runs a venue; the Grade II listed Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and promote a wide range of contemporary rock, pop, folk, roots, jazz and blues concerts and music projects, in addition to festivals and comedy. Built in the 1930s, the 1,790 seat Art Deco concert hall also regularly transforms into a cinema. A smaller space upstairs, the Rodewald Suite, provides a cabaret style venue.
The RLPO's former artistic director, Andrew Cornall, worked with Don Boyd and Vasily Petrenko to provide unique access to an entire week of the orchestra's work, which included rehearsals, two major concerts in their ongoing Mahler cycle, intimate interviews with leading members of the orchestra and a specially commissioned HiBROW documentary involving the great, late film director Ken Russell, who was a lifelong fan of the RLPO.
