Monica Ali is a British author best known for her debut novel, Brick Lane, which was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize for Fiction in 2003. She was also voted Granta's Best of Young British Novelists on the basis of the book's unpublished manuscript. The book was adapted into a film of the same name in 2007.
