Tracy Chevalier was born in Washington, DC. and has lived in London for over 20 years. Her second novel, The Girl With the Pearl Earring, won the Barnes and Noble Discover Award and has sold four million copies worldwide. In 2003 it was made into a film starring Scarlett Johansson and Colin Firth. Here, at World Book Night 2011 in Trafalgar Square, Tracy reads from Toni Morrison's Beloved.
